2010 Rochester Red Sox Pre-Winter Meeting rumblings.

After a very disappointing 2010 season the Rochester Red Sox are looking to make a big jump in year 2. A team that looked promising on paper just never panned out due to numerous injuries. Many in season moves were made to try and fill those spots but it was never enough. The addition of Brandon Phillips, Kevin Youkilis and Brett Anderson were moves with 2011 in mind. Youkilis will be coming off an injury but is a top 1B/3B option and Anderson is a young left handed pitcher with a lot of potential.

Rochester Red Sox expect Winter Meetings to be farely quiet as the main focus will be on drafting and getting contracts. That doesnt mean owner Richard Chase will not listen to offers on adding pieces or moving a couple.

Rochester Red Sox only have Jair Jurjens actively on the trading block. He is a guy who has a lot of potential and pitches on a quality team. Injury hurt his production last year but when he was healthy the production was there. A draft pick is what the team is mainly asking for on Jurjens. They would also be interested in swapping the SP for a closer, short stop or outfielder.

There have also been some talks around the organization that Kevin Youkilis 1B/3B may be available as well. Although the team hasnt actively put his name out there, several sources have stated for the right price the Red Sox could be interested in moving him and his 2yr contract. It would probably take a special deal to get such a big talent but you never know.
