After a narrow defeat in week 1 the Rochester Red Sox get thier first win in franchise history 6-5-1 over the Gaylord Dingers. Week 2 was a very frustrating week for the Red Sox and Owner Richard Chase. Franchise outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury missed the entire week with a chest injury while the Red Sox first ever draft pick Carlos Gonzalez missed all but two games this week. "Missing Ells and Gonzo for almost the whole week is tough. Both provide so much to this team that we really notice a difference with them out." said Chase. The Red Sox look forward to building on thier first win in week 3.
Offensively it was a tough week for the Red Sox. They were only able to grab 2 offensive categories (Runs & Avg). Starting pitching was better but still not where they expect to be. Pitching was able to grab 4 categories (Sv,K's,Holds & Whip). "Clearly offensively we weren't very good. Some of it was injury and some of it was under performing. We expect to rebound in week 3." said Chase.

Week 3 Outlook
Rochester Red Sox (11-11-2) vs New Jersey Mets (5-17-2)
Week 3 brings a divisonal matchup between the Red Sox and Mets. Carlos Gonzalez looks to be back and hitting on all cylinders going into week 3 but Jacoby Ellsbury doesn't look like he will be back until late next week. "We are going to sit Ellsbury this week and try to get some points out of another outfielder. We look forward to getting Ellsbury back in week 4." said Chase. This looks to be a very competitive game start to finish. Both teams will be looking to gain ground on division leader Flying Squirrels.
Brian Banister takes the mound 2 times this week for his new team. Coach Chase is hoping it was a smart free agent pickup. Newly acquired Ben Sheets is a late addition into the rotation for week 3. Jurjens, Carmona and Baker round out the rotation.
Offensively newly acquired outfielder Euginio Valez will replace Jacoby Ellsbury this week. Rick Ankiel will join the lineup after coming over in a mid week 2 trade. Red Sox look for Dan Uggla, Justin Morneu and Hanley Ramirez to continue hitting well. They also look to Travis Haffner and Nick Markakis to turn around slow starts.
